You won’t go wrong with either of these Dyson vacuum cleaners, but just to make cleaning more enjoyable, you should select the vacuum cleaner that fits your needs more than the other.

Let’s take a look.

Dyson Micro 1.5kg vs. Dyson Omni-glide

Here’s a quick summary of the comparison and brief explanation of what makes one vacuum better than the other.

If you want a more lightweight and portable vacuum cleaner, Dyson Micro 1.5 KG is the one you’re looking for. However, if you prefer to clean faster and cover more area in less time, the Dyson Omni Glide will be a better choice because of its double brush bars that cover more area.

Dyson Micro 1.5kg

What We Like

  • Extremely Portable
  • Incredibly Lightweight (3.3 lbs)
  • Great for Tight Spaces
  • Smaller Cleaning Head
  • Protects Hard Floors from Damage

What We Don’t Like

  • Short Battery Life
  • Small Dust Canister (0.2 Gallons)
  • Noisey at Highest Setting

This lightweight vacuum cleaner weighs just 3.3 pounds / 1.5 kilograms and is extremely portable.

It also has a 45% smaller cleaning head compared to other cordless vacuums, making it perfect for tight spaces.

Just like the Dyson Omni-glide, the Dyson Micro 1.5kg has a nylon-covered brush bar that protects hard floors from damage.

Due to the short battery life, and the small dust canister that holds just 0.2 gallons, you’ll regularly have to interrupt a cleaning session if you live in a large home by emptying the dust canister or recharging the battery. If you need a larger vacuum, you should consider the Dyson V11 Outsize.

If you need a battery option you may want to reconsider buying the Dyson Micro 1.5kg because the battery cannot be swapped out.

On its highest setting, this vacuum makes an amount of noise equal to that made by a truck traveling at 40 mph. If you want a quieter appliance, treat it with caution.

Dyson Omni-glide

What We Like

  • Extremely Portable
  • Very Lightweight
  • Great for Tight Spaces
  • Double Brush Bar Covers Large Area
  • Protects Hard Floors from Damage

What We Don’t Like

  • Longer Handle Makes it Difficult to Use
  • Small Dust Canister (0.2 Gallons)

The Omni-glide glides effortlessly on hard floors thanks to the double brush bar that covers a large area as well as protecting the floor. You should buy this if you have hard floors in your house.

The Omni-glide vacuum is a flat vacuum that can also be angled to reach in nooks and crannies and is perfect for carpet cleaners.

In case storage is a problem, the Omni-glide can be easily stored in the included dock using its highly compact, lightweight design.

Although Dyson’s Omni-glide vacuum cleaner is Dyson’s most affordable model, it is still more expensive than a comparable vacuum cleaner from a competitor. A Shark or Hoover model may be more cost-effective if you’re on a budget.

In handheld mode, the Dyson Omni-glide is cumbersome due to its longer handle than average. If you intend to use the vacuum cleaner this way frequently, you’d be better off with an older Dyson, like the V8, which is similar in price but much more comfortable to use.

The dust canister holds 0.75 liters or 0.2 gallons, so if you have a large home, you will find yourself stopping cleaning regularly to empty it. If you want something larger, Dyson’s V11 Outsize may be the better option.
